Mom wants a new computer. What brands do ya'll recommend? Dell? Hp? it doesn't need to be super cool, (but she does want it to be fast!) she just web browses and emails.

02:36 pm - Pony Skin Suggestions?
I'm trying to develop a new skin and I'd like to get some opinions on it. I've done quite a few things that just haven't appealed to people so I want to avoid having items that are duds.
So what do you think of the following critters? Too dark? Not dark enough? Too light? is the rainbow too bright? not intense enough?

sigh.
I didn't want to do this but clearly I have no other choice. Auctions aren't working and I have all those stupid freakin' hospital and credit card bills that I can't pay.
So I'm left with no choice but to do more commissions. I'm sorry to those of you who are still waiting but until I can find a way to get a steady job I'm just screwed.
So I'm offering 4 slots for quicky commissions. That means you get no edits. Ya tell me what ya want and I draw it. My printer is dead and I can't afford to fix it either so it has to be digital stuff only. I'll email ya a high res image. Price is $45.00 for full color one character simple gradient bg. I am not going to be doing any cons this year so this is pretty much the only way to get any stephie art any more.

05:14 pm - Dog Update and Advice
Well an update on the dog. Things are not looking good for Suzi.
It appears she's got an aggressive form of cancer. We had the vet do a chest x-ray and she's got strange calcium and or bone masses growing in random parts of her gut in addition to the strange masses in or on her uterus and breasts. The vet apparently has never seen such an unusual case, it looks like there's a water balloon up inside her.
We could do surgery to remove the masses but the vet says depending upon how aggressive and exactly what type of cancer it is, there's a good chance that the cancer / bone masses could just grow in new places.
Does any one have any advice or suggestions? What would you do?
We are pondering either letting nature take it's course and making her as comfortable as we possibly can or attempting to do the surgery to remove what we can and hope it doesn't return and hope that whatever is inside, is removable.

06:05 pm - Veterinarian Visit Perspective Please?
Okay so here's the situation. Please let me know if this sounds as screwed up as I think it does.
So several weeks ago we adopted a mini poodle from animal control. We immediately took her to the vet to be looked over, make sure she was healthy.
Now the dog doesn't look that much different (save she's had three baths since then ) today than she did when we took her to the vet the first time.
So why is he finally noticing that she may have breast cancer? We feel like we are totally getting screwed over like he saw the dog, knew it probably had issues but said she was fine only so we'd bring her back in the future and he could diagnose her with various other problems, get her vaccinated up so he could make some money.
She had the swollen nipples and backside ( granted she went into heat about a week or so after we got her) which again he should have mentioned that was likely to occur and didn't) and that it appeared that her rear end and other reproductive organs inside appeared off (hard and enlarged).
The most he said on that first visit was that it appeared she had a hormonal imbalance.
I mean when you get a new car and take it to your mechanic to have it looked over you expect him to say 'No this is not a good car to buy, it's got a bunch of problems' or 'Yes this looks like a great car that will keep on going for a while. you should buy it.". Why should you expect less from your pet's doctor?
Also why did he give her the vaccine shots first and then do another physical exam and suddenly decide that she probably has some cancer? Wouldn't it have made more sense to do the exam first then realize the dog was sick and should get some X rays first before wasting money on shots when it's likely we'll have to put the dog down soon?
Any thoughts ya'll? I'm hoping that maybe because of my lack of experience in this venue that I don't understand the whole situation.

05:28 pm - Alternate ways to teach Sit?
I'm looking for alternate ways to teach 'Sit'.
I've searched the forums and the net. Thus far I keep seeing the same techniques I'm already familiar with.
Here's the situation: My mother recently adopted a possibly 7 year old miniature poodle from animal control. We suspect she was used as a breeder but fortunately she is very well socialized but was found wandering the streets as a stray. She loves people and gets along fine with other animals and dogs.
She appears to hear okay but she doesn't know any commands at all. She is currently in heat and we plan to get her spayed after she completes her cycle as was the suggestion of our Vet. We've had her about 3 weeks now.
I've done the food over the head trick. I've tried it with her rump facing both a wall and a corner. I've pressed her rump down and rewarded her plenty. (I don't really like doing that and she resists it). I don't see her sitting too often so capturing the behavior with a clicker hasn't been too successful. I've tried various treats but she doesn't appear to be overly food motivated.. and she has no interest at all in toys.
What else can I try? Do any of you all think that her being in heat is making it very uncomfortable for her to do a proper sit?
I appreciate any suggestions that you can give.
