Here's my current list of potential names for my dog when I finally get it. : In no particular order! Arwen, Eowyn, Minerva, Asoka, Kira, Korra, Teela, Trinity, Skywalker, Motoko, Xena, Artemis, Luna and Ziva . Which ones do ya'll like best? Can you guess their origin?

We need to know more about the dog! Arwen wouldn't suit a very shy dog, for instance. :) These all seem like good strong female heroine names (and yes, I recognize Korra)

Kira, Korra, Teela, Luna, and Ziva are all strong 2 syllable names that dogs respond to well. I used to have a husky named Kira, and we got her name from Olivia Newton John's character in Xanadu! ;o)

All the best to you and your new puppy! ;o)

I'm a 5-time dog owner, and I've learned a LOT through the years (mostly from my mistakes). If I can offer a bit of advice? Pick up this book:

Read it, then prepare and practice the techniques LONG before you bring your dog home! You can't learn on the fly. You have to be ready for that moment when your dog needs guidance, and know exactly (and confidently) how to react. Dogs live in the moment. If you have to think about it, it's too late.

Also, try and be patient with your pup and yourself through the process. It takes YEARS of work, repetition, and frustration to train a dog. But around the age of 1.5 - 2 it all starts to sink in, and you end up with a wonderful companion. ;o)
